The wind blew hard and strong. I lifted my young arms overhead to command the air itself. As my dark hair blew across my face it seemed as if the very trees themselves bent to my will. My tiny bare feet dug into the forest floor and leaves skipped over my toes. The magic of the wood was so incredible! I closed my eyes and listened with every one of my senses…I could hear the earth itself breathing into my little body. Life was so magical…

This was my childhood. I spent almost every waking moment immersed in the woods behind my parent’s house. We were only the second house in a development that had barely gotten started. My wild heart would tug me into the woods each day to sing to the birds, command the winds, make pies for the fairies and apply war paint with berries I picked when necessary. I didn’t need distraction or even other people, I just needed the wild wood.

As I began to grow older, as more people began to build and as the bears were pressed in closer to our home due to the developing woods my outdoor visits would lessen slightly but I would find the magic of words and worlds on the pages of a fantasy novel. My nose deep in the spine, my body curled around the book as if my whole body were creating a cocoon for the story to be held safely. I didn’t realize that my innate need for magic was such an odd thing.

I can remember even on my first day of collage, excitedly walking into my dorm room, hanging up framed photos from my favorite movie Legend, complete with a princess and unicorn and topping the experience off by hanging feathers from the ceiling only to have my roommate arrive with a look on her face wishing for anyone other than me for the next year.

After getting married and birthing two amazing children, the sand seemed to have shifted under my feet. Where I always felt deeply connected to the magic of the world, I felt a bit lost. A wanderer shuffling through the desert of motherhood, seeking to quench a thirst that only a magical oasis could provide. I decided one day this just would not do! And began to set about finding ways to bring the magic back into my daily life. I’m sharing this because if you are out there, a little lost from a life initiation, easy or hard, perhaps you too are looking to bring a little more enchantment back into your world. Here are a few things I’ve found that helped bring the magic back into everyday life.

  1. Morning Tea Magic:

  2. When waking up, as I fill the tea kettle and turn it on I love to watch the bubbles begin to form and rise. I smile to myself thinking my cauldron is bubbling. When I select my tea for the day and pour the waters over the leaves I always take a moment to silently send my wishes and intentions for the day into my cup. Then I stir my tea 3 times deosil (clockwise) to awaken those energies and whisper a little “And so it is.” into my mug before sipping with a smile.

  3. Adorning to the Energy of the Day

  4. I’ve always found that the way I dress is an outward expression of how I am feeling that day. Once I’ve selected my outfit strategically I take a moment to close my eyes and visualize what energy I most want to assist me for the the day. Sometimes it’s an emotional energy, sometimes its angelic or fairy. Once I feel clear, I ask for the jewelry that will hold that energy best to show itself and immediately I see what necklace, rings, bracelets, earrings wish to support. As I put them on my body I ask that they help support that energy and hold it around me throughout the day. I swear it’s amazing how powerful this practice is!

  5. Solar Adorations

  6. Getting my feet on the ground and my face turned towards the sun feels essential for my soul. I love to take a moment to honor the Sun as a reflection and reminder of my own inner light. I raise my arms in a “v” over my head and turn my face to the sun, then bring that light into my heart by placing one hand over the other. Then I lower my arms in a “v” towards the earth and draw that energy of grounding into my heart as well by placing both hands over my heart. Do this 3 times.

  7. Cleansing for the Dream Temple

  8. One of my teachers once said, if nothing else, it was of the utmost importance to shower briefly before bed. For it is when we go to sleep at night that we enter the Dream Temple. And to enter a sacred space it is important to have cleanse the body and the energies of the day prior to arriving. So each night, right before bed, I get into a warm shower and I turn three times widdershins (counter clockwise) and ask that the waters purify and cleanse my body energetically, spiritually and emotionally of any lower energies, entities, or lower frequencies. I then stand, cupping the falling water in my hands and offer words of gratitude for the support it is lending. I’ve found it to be a really lovely routine that feels deeply magical and intentional.

  9. Sleeping with a Dreaming Stone

  10. While running my hands along some smoothed stones in a crystal shop, one gave me deep pause and I retraced my steps. Beneath my palm was a blue apatite. At the time I knew nothing about this stone, but immediately I had the sense that it was going to help me sleep. So I bought the one that called to me and went home to research. I found that blue apatite facilitate inner peace and mental calm. It also helps one access the intelligence of the subconscious mind. While it didn’t specifically say it helped with dreaming, I trusted my inner guidance and placed it beneath my pillow. That night my sleep was deep and my dreams were powerful. It became an nightly ritual, because, to be honest, on nights I forgot it, I noticed! So I highly recommend this stone for assisted sleep and powerful dreaming! Tuck it safely under your pillow or on the underside of your pillow sham and see where your dreams take you!

Blessed Be.

Blessed Be.

Blessed Be.

And So It Is.
