3 Sacred Rituals To Practice Daily

As a mother of two under 4 years old, finding solo time to connect to the divine can be incredibly challenging and yet, I feel that for my own spiritual practice it is incredibly important that regardless of the meltdowns, the messy diapers and the none stop clean up, my day isn’t complete unless I’ve found a way to serve that part of my soul that yearns for that golden thread of devotion, divine source and magic. And so I’ve found that regardless of the what the day holds, these three simple but powerful rituals keep my spirit fed and bring the sacred into even the most mundane of days.
Purifying with Water
I love to begin my day with a fresh shower, even if I only get a few minutes of uninterrupted quiet. While in the shower, soap up so you are able to start the day fresh and clean. I like to begin by cupping my hands, gathering some water in my palms, and saying a few words of gratitude to the water I am able to bathe in. Then to begin the ritual, turn 3 times widdershins (counterclockwise), as this releases energy, and ask that the waters purify and cleanse you of any negative energy or anything not serving your highest self. Especially on the nights when your sleep has been disturbed or your dreams were odd or less than pleasant. Once I’ve done this. I pause to imagine any of that energy running off of my body and into the falling waters, releasing down through the drain. Then turn 3 times deosil (clockwise), as this awakens and invites in energy, underneath the running water and whisper, speak or mentally invite in whatever intentions you would like to invite into your day. Afterwards, I always like to take a moment to once again cup the water collecting in my hands and give some final thanks and gratitude. I love to finish with a promise to be a guardian of the holy waters. So if that feels good to you, try that on!
Sending Prayers into Your Food
If possible before I eat each meal, but at least one through the day, I like to take a moment to offer my gratitude to the food I am eating and send a prayer out to those in need of nourishment. Hold your hands lightly over your food, or simply close your eyes, and take a moment to thank the food you are eating for it’s journey and all that it has been through to arrive here on your plate, to nourish your body. Then before eating offer up this prayer: “As I eat of this food, may someone, somewhere in the world, in need of food and nourishment also receive it.” It’s a lovely way of energetically putting out into the field the heart and desire that all those around the world be fed and nourished. To me, being in the sacred, is being of service, even if it can only look energetic or through prayer.
Pray to the Water
Water is so programmable. Scientist have discovered that the frequency of words and even our thoughts (via meditation) can actually change the molecular structure of water. So each day, I take some time to whisper into my tea, or my water, whatever intentions I wish to invite into my body. I let the liquid become the medicine of my soul and then before I drink of the waters I offer one final prayer, “As I drink of this water, may someone, somewhere in the world, in need of water, also receive it.” And then I close my eyes and as I take in my drink, I imagine those intentions flooding my own system, and also imagine someone in need of water also drinking as well.
What is lovely about these three sacred rituals are they can be easily done each day without requiring much time or tools. The more you can do these from your heart and with great, true and pure intention, the more powerful they become.
Blessed Be.
Blessed Be.
Blessed Be.
And So It Is.
